Fishing trip in Hammamet

Fishing rods provided, the captain's favourite fishing spots, and your catch on the way back.

Fishing in the Gulf of Hammamet

The gulf is a bountiful fishing ground: red seabream, white seabream and grey mullet on the sandy seabed, yellowtail and bonito passing through in the summer months, and squid in autumn. Our skipper has been fishing here all his life and knows the spots that yield the best catches depending on the wind and the season.

No experience or equipment is needed. Rods, reels and bait are provided on board, and we'll show you the basics in ten minutes. Experienced anglers are, of course, welcome to bring their own equipment.

How's the fishing going?

We prefer to set off early in the morning, between 6 am and 8 am: that's when the fish are biting. Depending on the season and what you fancy, we'll either go bottom fishing at coastal spots whilst at anchor, or trolling as we head out to sea. The skipper will adapt the technique to whatever's working on the day.

Everything you catch is yours to keep: we'll clean the fish on board on the way back, and you can take it home with you in a cool box. Some hotels and restaurants in the harbour will cook your catch for you that very evening, just ask us for their addresses.

Frequently asked questions

I've never been fishing before, is that a problem?

None. You can learn how to bottom fish in ten minutes, and the skipper will be right there to help you bait the hooks and land your catch. Most beginners catch something on their very first trip.

What exactly are we fishing for?

Depending on the season: sea bream, young sea bream, grey mullet and red seabream when bottom fishing; bonito and yellowtail when trolling in summer; squid towards the end of the season. It's up to the sea, but it's rare to come back empty-handed.

Can we keep the fish?

Yes, anything that's of the correct size can be taken home with you, cleaned and packed in a cool box. Any catches that are too small are returned to the water.

Do non-fishing companions pay the full price?

On a shared trip, a non-fishing companion pays half price. With a private charter, this isn't an issue: the boat is all yours.
